Astral Projection

Castiel uses Astral projection to display his wings.

Astral Projection is a quite rare ability to extend at least a portion of one’s body outward to the astral world.

Projecting one's true self can be harmful and chaotic to the outside world, like when angels extend their true form. If a human completely leaves their body, they become much like a living ghost, gaining all the powers that ghosts do (Super strength, Teleportation, Telekinesis etc.) but only after plenty of practice.

Characters with this ability

• God - He revealed his true form to Metatron.
• Angels - Castiel projected his wings to Dean to prove what he was when Dean didn't believe him. He did this again to Crowley during a match-off. While possessing Sam Winchester, Gadreel projected his broken wings before killing three of Abaddon's demons.
• Archangels
  • Lucifer - He displayed his wings three times, while against Crowley.
  • Gabriel - He displayed his wings when he killed Asmodeus.
  • Alternate Michael - Displayed his wings on numerous occasions.
• Seraphim - More advanced than Angels

  • Jack - was able to project his awareness into Michaels fortress to discover that it was in fact empty. He can also display his wings.
• Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse
  • Death - Death projected his true form to Lucifer, causing the Archangel to stare up in awe.
  • Pestilence - Pestilence projected his true form but it appeared as static on camera.

  • Eve - Eve projected her true form but it appeared as a distorted blur on camera.
• Leviathans - Leviathans projected the shadows of their true forms underwater, which was serpentine.

  • Fenrir - Showed his true face when angered.
  • Narfi - Showed his true face when angered.
  • Sleipnir - Showed his true face when angered.
  • Ed Carrigan / Madge Carrigan - They showed their true faces which were rotted.

  • James Frampton - Can project his consciousness outside his body and take others with him, even non-witches.
  • Rowena - Through a spell, she can project her consciousness outside her body.
• Dean Winchester - While acting as the vessel to Michael and powered by the archangel, Dean was able to display Michael's wings after teleporting to the church where Lucifer, Sam and Jack were.
